With a presence in over 50 countries worldwide, GF has built its business model on flexibility, efficiency, quality, and innovation.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2022, <strong>the company went through an M&amp;A operation joining Exel Group, a French group leader in the Garden sector<\/strong>. As a consequence of that extraordinary operation, <strong>ERP harmonization became a strategic topic<\/strong> to face. Indeed, until that point, GF used to have an Oracle JD Edwards system of its previous parent company, operating on a shared tenant without autonomy over its own IT systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The group identified two main options to manage the ERP actual situation with the entrance of GF:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><strong>SAP Rollout<\/strong><\/strong>, the system was already in use among Exel Group subsidiaries . The chosen approach was <strong>&#8220;Lift &amp; Shift&#8221;\u2014upgrading and migrating the ERP system to the cloud without disrupting operational continuity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Key activities included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Upgrade from JD Edwards 9.1 to 9.2<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Migration to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Architecture change from Windows to Linux<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Data segregation, with mass extraction and deletion of the previous parent company&#8217;s data while retaining only GF&#8217;s data<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Software segregation, with depersonalization of the previous ownership&#8217;s developments and release of GF&#8217;s proprietary software<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restyling of existing integrations to improve efficiency and reliability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Project management was based on a structured governance model, with <strong>monthly steering committee meetings<\/strong> between Alfa Sistemi and GF to <strong>monitor progress, share achieved results, and align on follow up activities<\/strong>. This approach ensured transparency, ongoing dialogue, and the ability to advance certain milestones ahead of the original schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Users also played a decisive role, being extensively involved in testing activities<\/strong>: between July and September 2024, over 800 functionalities were validated\u2014a process that not only verified proper system operation but also increased internal knowledge of JD Edwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the go-live phase, an <strong>extended hypercare<\/strong> phase supported the company in daily management of the new environment, including assistance during critical periods related to fiscal and calendar year-end closing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thanks to this approach, <strong>the project, originally planned for November 2024, was successfully completed in October<\/strong>\u2014one month ahead of schedule and with no impact on business continuity.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-alfasistemi-blocks-library-image alfasistemi-image alfasistemi-image--21-9 alfasistemi-image--full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.alfasistemi.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/water-5290601_1280.jpg\" alt=\"water-5290601_1280.jpg\"\/><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-alfasistemi-blocks-library-section-text-columns alfasistemi-section-text-columns background-white\"><div class=\"alfasistemi-section-text-columns__inner\"><div x-data=\"scrollFade()\" x-init=\"init()\" x-effect=\"$el.classList.toggle('show', visible)\" class=\"alfasistemi-section-text-columns__column-1 fade-in-element\"><h2><strong>The Benefits<\/strong><\/h2><\/div><div x-data=\"scrollFade()\" x-init=\"init()\" x-effect=\"$el.classList.toggle('show', visible)\" class=\"alfasistemi-section-text-columns__column-2 fade-in-element\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Lift &amp; Shift<\/strong> project was not merely a technical upgrade and migration exercise, but a true turning point for GF.
